Preparing your stream desk
Guide

Troubleshoot a destination, one signal at a time

A missing preview can have several causes. Separate saved configuration, agent communication, encoder state, and platform behavior before changing your setup.

Start with the reported state

Review the latest run and the specific output that failed. Note the time, sanitized error, and whether the agent acknowledged the command. Do not infer a firewall problem or bad key from a stale heartbeat alone.

Review the saved publishing details

Compare the endpoint and credential with the platform’s current live configuration. Check for expired credentials or a different event. Replace a key through the destination editor when needed, and keep the key out of diagnostic notes.

Review source and encoder availability

Confirm that the chosen source remains in your library, the server has reported recently, and FFmpeg is available. Check available disk and resource measurements with their timestamps. Old values should not be treated as proof of current capacity.

Inspect the destination platform

Check whether live access is enabled, an event must be prepared, or a final publish action is required. Use the platform preview to establish whether media is arriving. IAmAStreamer does not synchronize those platform states.

Retry with a reason

After correcting an identified issue, retry the affected output and review the new reports. Keep successful outputs separate from failed ones. If you need help, prepare a sanitized summary with the relevant time, source characteristics, settings, and error—not passwords or stream keys.
